Co-Head Coach Lisa Denison - founder, TriHouse Training Coach Lisa grew up
swimming in a small town in South Texas on the only swim team in town. By age 9 she was competing year-round,
and became known as a butterflyer and mid-distance freestyler. She was a 4-year varsity swimmer, team captain
of her high school swim team, and a top 3 regional and state-level competitor. During her teen years, she
started her own private swim lesson business in a back yard pool, teaching the entire town how to swim and helping to pay
the way to college. She turned down a college swimming scholarship due to serious burn out and permanent
water-loggedness! She went on to earn a bachelor degree in Kinesiology, work for 14 years in medical device
sales and marketing, get married and have 3 children, and go back for a masters degree in business. Along
the way she earned multiple fitness certifications, taught every fitness class you can imagine, competed in triathlons, and
through triathlon and pregnancies found her love for swimming again. For the last 6 years, she has coached full-time both
children and adults in swimming and triathlon. 3 years ago she founded her own coaching business, TriHouse
Training. Her favorite coaching accomplishments so far are starting the first Team Danskin group in Albuquerque,
New Mexico (that grew to the largest team in the country its 2nd year), and taking the Division 4 title with the
Steiner Stars summer league swim team in its 2nd year! In her spare time, Coach Lisa loves
to snow and water ski, cook, watch movies with her kids, and eat warmed-up M&M’s (her personal discovery –
just 1 minute in the microwave and they get soft in the middle, but stay crunchy on the outside – perfect!)
Co-Head Coach Lori Beilinson - founder, Piranhas Swim
Team
Coach Lori
was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She began swimming summer league at the age of 6 then moved onto AAU Swimming,
now USA Swimming. Coach Lori swam through middle school, high school and continued her swimming career
into college and swam for Emory University in Atlanta. There she became a distance swimmer and a strong
butterflyer. The 200 butterfly was her favorite race. Coach Lori holds degrees in English
and Respiratory Therapy. She worked for 6 years at various Level 1 Trauma Centers around the country in intensive care units
and emergency rooms saving lives. During this time, she moved 7 times, had 3 children then finally landed in Austin in 1999.
She left medicine, began coaching in 2002 and never turned back. This is her 9th year coaching swimmers of all ages and abilities.
In addition, Coach Lori is currently working on becoming a Certified Academic Lanugage Therapist - a journey she began when
2 of her 3 children were diagnosed with Dyslexia. She is also a "do it yourselfer" all around the house; laying
tile, installing hard wood floors, plumbing, electrical...you name it. In her house, when something needs to be fixed, they
yell "Mom" and she comes running. When and if there is down time, Coach Lori loves movies!
Cary started swimming
in northern California at the age of 7. By the age of 12, he had qualified for his first Far Westerns Championship meet.
By the age of 18, he had placed as high as second place. Cary went on to swim at the University of California
at Santa Cruz (which has one of the most beautiful swimming pools ever!). There, he specialized in the 100 and 200 breaststroke,
as well as the 200 IM (and also helped out as a camp counselor at Nike Swim Camp UCSC). He was then tempted to tour
the world with an Austin-based country-bluegrass band as their drummer. Hey traveled all over the U.S., France, and
the Netherlands for 5 years. Between tours, he was the head swim coach for the Columbus CATfish in Columbus, TX. After
coaching the CATfish for 5 summer league seasons (including a couple of undefeated seasons), he began coaching the JCC Piranhas
with coach Lori Beilinson. During that time, while swimming masters, he met Lisa Denison. The rest, as they say,
is history. When Cary is not at the pool
during the day (coaching or swimming) or rockin’ out at night in the local Austin music scene, look out above: Cary
is also a Certified Flight Instructor and teaches people how to fly airplanes. Banging drums, flying airplanes, and
splashing in the pool - does life get any better?!
